I had questions and the lady at the register had I don't know answer, she also sold me soil that was sold out when I got out to have it loaded and I was so aggravated that the guy loading convinced me to take so cheap soil in replacement and I did. If you work the register and you don't know call someone to the front that does. ITS CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Always helpful and nice people. Might not have *everything*, but I’m sure they could order whatever if I needed something specific!

What a great, small town hardware store. Lumber, landscaping and paints are also available. Prices are very reasonable, and the wide array of merchandise available allows one to support hometown business and avoid the trips to Yakima and The Dalles.. Selections are quite comprehensive and readily available.

Local shop for most work and diy stuff. Good selections, not the cheapest prices but in the middle of nowhere there is no place to get stuff in a hurry and those shipping costs would make it just as expensive if you ordered online

would expect better from the only hardware store in Goldendale. Everything is stupid expensive, most things triple the price they are at Lowe’s. decently friendly, there’s a few you can pick out that aren’t the greatest, but the old lady with white hair is rude and crude. apparently married to one of the other staff members, hint to why she thinks it’s okay. She’s not helpful at all, and it seems as if it’s inconvenient for her to answer any questions. If you have a loading ticket, make sure they load everything correctly before you leave.

I love a good hometown hardware store, and this is definitely a great resource for Goldendale! I have found that it has saved me many trips to the big box stores! My only suggestions are that the staff might be a little more pro-active in asking customers if assistance is needed, and perhaps some enhanced organization of merchandise on shelves.

Nice people, first and last visit, I'm sorry but the prices are high, maybe because they are the only show in town

I live a good drive from the metropolis of Goldendale and needed sanding discs for my sander. I called Allyns and was told they had what I needed after giving the sander model etc.. I drove there spoke to a worker named Jo or Joelle and was reassured by her that the discs would fit my sander. She came across rude and rather abrupt. The sanding discs also were completely wrong and extremely expensive.

Surprised to see that this place has a huge selection of merchandise. Needed a 1 1/4 in drain for our camper sink and they had several to choose from. All of the staff were helpful and polite. They know their customers on a first name basis and enjoy their jobs. Was a pleasant experience!

This hardware store has been here since I was very little. Great hardware store if you just need to run to town for items that you don't want to drive way of town for. They have a little bit of everything. Also they can order some things in.

Very nice owners and staff. Friendly and wide variety of stuff in stock. Keep supporting local businesses against the economies of scale that the big box guys wield against them. The money we spend in small businesses within our community helps circulate within our economy and keeps jobs local.

Everytime I go into Allyn's building center I am greeted by very friendly and helpful staff, if you can't find what you're looking for ask them they are more than willing to help you out.
If they don't have what you're after at the time they will let you know where in town would be your best choice to try next.

Masking and social distancing not only are not practiced but seem to be discouraged. If you do buy lumber here, make sure you look at every piece before it is loaded. I bought 10 2x4x8s and let them load them. When I got home and unloaded the lumber, fully half of the pieces were either warped or had large chunks missing along the edges.

A good small town hardware store, a bit more expensive than a big box but don't have to drive 30 miles so fuel costs make up for it and friendly people

Very helpful and hospitable employees. There's a lumberyard, paint center and a but of everything! Spoiler alert there's an upstairs section with housewares (paper products and cleaning supplies) too.

Usually everyone is quite friendly. Must have your receipt to make a return. Prices on paint and some lumber beat out Home Depot...definitely worth checking here before heading to the Dalles. I love buying bark/wood mulch here, good price vs buying bags or they can deliver a small dump truck load. They have pre mixed paints made in Portland for only around $12 a gallon, such a great deal. I bought the red color for the chicken coop and my friend is using it in her boys room. Also, they have lots of tools for rent, when they didn't have what we needed for rent they opted to open the one they had in stock and rent it to us. When my dad visits he goes there just about every day to get all the do-dads he needs to fix up our house...9 times out of 10 he finds what he needs.

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
