I was unable to open my back door aka my emergency exit, post roof installation, as the ceiling had dropped due to “vibration” I was told, after three people from this company looked at it prior to me paying the final check AFTER they initially forgot to do it! They didn’t know they had to do it then it was an argument with Josh regarding doing the complete back roof, after an entire replacement was contracted.
The one gentleman stated he had family that could help me and he had my number so I took him at his word. A month later he never called me back.
I had three other contractors tell me that it’s not my responsibility they caused the damage so I call and let Josh know what they said and he comes to inspect it and it’s not their responsibility. It’s from “vibration.”
The roofing supervisor Moses, said that it should be rolled shingles but Josh vetoed it rattling off some measurements and they shingled it raising the pitch. Should have been rolled or a permit and inspection. I have all the texts.
My contractors come and remove the ceiling that was damaged trying to gain access to the outside once working door, and repair the ceiling.
It was then discovered that the roof is NOT even up to code it’s not even attached to the house, they did not remove the old rotted tresses and they changed the pitch which would have required a permit and inspection which I found did not happen. It was within my signed contract. I wasn’t told about the pitch change until after the roof was completed. I did not authorize that.
The required 4 inches for the end supports were shaved down to 2 inches also a safety hazard to fit above the door so they didn’t have to STOP and call an electrician so they could AFTER removing while the old subroof.
This roof was out of their scope but they did it anyways. What was binding over my door? Rotted rafters they didn’t remove. That I paid them to do. “Vibration”
We discovered they rebuilt over and beside the existing tresses rather than remove them which is what I paid them to do. They built over old termite damaged and rotted wood and wet rotted insulation that I specifically asked if it were replaced and was told it was.
Now, my back porch is deemed as a safety hazard that could potentially collapse per the building inspector and two other contractors that were in shock due to the short cuts taken.
I am now looking at a complete tear off with new structural damage to walls and my back door and frame.
The gutter also wasn’t attached correctly nor attached to the actual downspout, when I tried to open the screen door it hit the gutter. Had to call twice on that.
When they brought the plywood prior to the install, they put it under a down spout in a rainstorm and I had to move it all myself and call and tell them they cannot install wet plywood so they brought more, after their crew dumped the first delivery in the street and tore up the yard when they could have and were instructed to leave it in the driveway. I told Josh this also. More frustration.
They offered to redo the roof. I don’t trust them now. Who knows what the rest of the roof looks like underneath? They also installed my blind and disabled sister’s roof and many on her street and within that location after the tornado, so I will be sending a contractor to also inspect hers.
IF we had not taken the ceiling off we would not have known and snow could have caused or just heavy weight on that wall, the roof to pull from the house and potentially collapse pulling the back porch off my home. That’s where I do laundry.
I paid cash, insurance denied, on a fixed income as a permanently disabled female Veteran, for my roof AND some of my sister’s and was granted money from a church to pay for the rest of hers.
Please choose wisely. They had me fill the initial five star review out in my kitchen before they left….I deleted it.
I’ll be reporting this to the BBB, the Governor’s office, my congressmen, the media and anyone that will listen….especially if I can’t fix this…
