AFS Foundation & Waterproofing Specialists - Florence, AL

I recently hired AFS to waterproof my basement as I thought covering the dirt in the crawl space would help cut down on the dust that gathers in the house. I decided to get a quote from AFS due to viewing the commercial that said about 50% of the air you breathe has whatever is in your crawl space in the air. Plus, one of my older friends had AFS come out to evaluate her basement and the rep told her everything looked good and no work was necessary. I was impressed that the company did not try to take advantage of an older, single female by selling her on a project that was not necessary, so I called AFS. Sadly, my inspection revealed I had mold, humidity and water that was affecting my joists and could eventually affect my foundation if the problems were not corrected.

Anthony, Ethan, Devin and Hunter were the team that came to do the work on my crawl space and I could not be more pleased with the work that they did. They were ALWAYS courteous and wore shoe protectors anytime they entered my home. Anthony, the foreman, called and texted each morning to let me know they were on their way. Anthony started off with a face-to-face conversation each morning to let me know what they planned to do each day and what noises to expect. Each time they had to come inside to check on something, the guys were kind and efficient. They were also sweet to our dogs and they loved having the crew come greet them.

Anthony always checked in with me at the end of each day to let me know what they had accomplished and what needed to be done the next day. Anthony was also great about sending me before and after pics to help me understand the process. He also let me know that he noticed a leak in the crawl space from one of the toilets. I appreciated that as I didn't need any more water in my crawl space, so I was able to call a plumber to come out and fix the problem.

The guys also let me know that they found a lot of debris in the crawl space from when a company I had previously hired and fired had done when they worked on one of our bathrooms. That company probably never expected me to find out they left all of the debris in the crawl space, but Anthony, Ethan, Hunter and Devin got all of it out and left my yard in great shape.

I was also impressed that Anthony let me know ASAP when they had accidentally busted one of my water pipes. They took care of the situation asap and cleaned up the mess. Anthony showed me the pics of the situation so I could view for myself that the situation had been corrected.

I have no complaints (besides the cost) of the work that AFS did. If your foundation is not solid and healthy, then that will affect everything about your home. I would highly recommend AFS to do work for anyone else that finds themselves in the position we were in regarding mold, humidity and water in our crawl space.

We had some floor squeaks and a slight crack over an interior doorway. William came out to look things over and we had AFS put some piers in to level out our 80's home. The work was prompt and cleanup was excellent. Afterwards we noticed our dehumidifier was not turning on as usual. We contacted William and he came out immediately and resolved our little issue. We could not be more pleased with the professionalism of this company and William's followup. Absolutely would recommend them for your foundation work.

The guys were on time and went right to work. Landon Milam Chance Lynch were professionals courteous and left everything in tip tip condition. Landon answered all my questions and explained everything thoroughly. Great job guys!

AFS Huntsville just finished a total encapsulation of our crawl space. From the initial assessment, proposal presentation, financing, and completion, the team was professional and completed the job in 2 1/2 days. Tyler Whitt was our original contact with AFS. Great service and a wonderful crew. Cleaned up and waterproofed my crawlspace and supported and jacked up a problem wall in my house where the drywall was cracking. Justin came out today, 4/30/25 to assess my work request. Unfortunately the services I needed was outside of AFS business scope. I appreciate his professionalism, promptness, work ethics, and integrity. I highly recommend using AFS services, when applicable. Some times you have a company come out and the employees just stand out and do great work and deserve recognition. The crew from AFS Anthony, Devin, and Hunter were absolutely amazing. Anthony stayed in constant contact with me, from before they arrived each morning to each time they were leaving the property to get supplies, to when they were completing each work day. The professionalism from the three workers truly shows they take pride in their work. They kept their job site clean and managed throughout the day. Thank you for the respect and professionalism.

AFS has done work for me before and I'm glad I chose them this time too. Matt Carter and Rhett were very helpful and gave clear easy to understand explanations of the problem and how to fix it. I know it will be done right and made to last!

Hats off to Blake, Arnold, Yoni and team leader Ricardo for doing an awesome job installing our perimeter drain system, sub pumps, and wall moisture barrier. They were knowledgeable, talented, and professional. They showed up on time every day and kept us in the communication loop. Looking forward to having a dry basement in the 50 year old house that we bought last summer. Our sales consultant, Rob L., was also a wealth of information and helped us find an affordable solution to our water issue. We definitely would recommend AFS to others!

Everyone I have dealt with at AFS over the past few years have been amazing, polite, professional, and friendly. I like seeing pictures of what we are discussing. Sean came last Fall for an inspection & discovered a rotting beam. I was having work done on the house so my contractor took care if it. Tyler came in March to check a first floor room that seemed to have a problem. Riley and Anthony installed another metal beam with supporting jacks a few weeks later. I was impressed when Riley complimented my contractor's replacement work. All four of these men represent AFS well. They are well trained and explain everything very well. I highly recommend Huntsville AFS for any foundation work needed.

Technician Braden Fielder and fellow tech with done a great job making sure the pump worked properly and the walls was adjusted properly and marked to track any movement in thr future. They provided detailed pictures of what all was completed and checked letting us know if anything was needed.

This review is only for the consultation. Rhett came out to look at our crawl space and recommend solutions. He took his time and was very thorough taking pictures of the entire space. When it came time to sit down and discuss what’s happening and recommend a solution Rhett explained everything and made sure I understood not only what’s happening in the space but also that I understood the solution and the why. Rhett was very friendly and knowledgeable about the entire process. He is a huge asset to AFS and set a high bar for all in home consultation services to reach.

Sammy, Landon, Jalen, Reynaldo Quincey, William Jamison all did a fantastic job. It was a flawless experience. Really good work and great customer service.

The case manager Rhett came out for free estimate. The professionalism oozed out of this guy and had such a Charismatic way of presenting. Very Educated answers, knew his stuff, even had access to uplinks who were also knowledgeable. Knowing he is running the show also impedes the "left hand doesnt know what the right hand does" scenario. It will be a tremendous boon to work with this guy... and this company has a solid professional face through Rhett. Great impression left on my whole family.

Rhett was very attentive to us & the issues we were having. He squeezed us into a busy day to get us a quote and get the ball rolling ASAP. Very straight forward, and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend him to anyone!

I highly recommend inspector Bret for your foundation and water removal needs. He was upfront with everything and didn’t have a pushy salesman personality. He found the issues and was very thorough and helpful with my options. Because of the type of person he is, we have an affordable three step plan to fix the problem instead of an expensive all in one fix.

Alex and Sam came to install my baseboard gutter and sump pump. They worked hard all day and did a fantastic job. Everything they were doing was explained to me so I knew what to expect. I highly recommend AFS to anyone and I suggest requesting Alex and Sam to do the work !

Great experience from start to finish. Colby Roberts was wonderful and explained everything so well. Sammy, Landen, and Jordan did an amazing job executing the plan. They even came in the snow to finish the job. Communication was top notch every step of the way.

Chris, (William Jamison), did our annual inspection this Summer. He was knowledgeable, thorough, took his time to get all the details and sat down with me to explain what he found. Chris had a drawing and photos of our encapsulated crawl space that I could see and fixed one of the issues on the spot. He also made recommendations for the future. I did, however, feel rushed to make a decision today at a discount and explained that our day was very busy and really felt that we needed more time to make the decision in order to receive the discount.

Got our annual inspection done on our Encapsulation. Reid Walley, Service Tech, did a great job and was very thorough. Explained several options for us. Our crawlspace was done in 2019 and it continues to provide us a much better feeling knowing that everything is dry and maintained. AFS has really helped us improve our home and we hope to continue service with them for years to come.

Tyler was most knowledgeable in diagnosing our foundation issues. He was polite, courteous, and respectful. I would recommend him to anyone.

While the inspector who came was professional and considerate, the pressured sales tactics and also skewing the readings on the hygrometer* was enough to know that AFS was not a company worth considering. Glad we did not give any money up front, we probably would be pulling teeth to get it back.

* The inspector's meter read 94% humidity. The actual humidity was around 52%.

I Regret the day I called AFS. We’ve been dealing with them since June when the inspector came out and our issues still aren’t resolved. The inspector, Ben Worsham, came out and gave us an estimate for floor supports and encapsulation. It was a lot of money but they have a good reputation so we thought it would be worth it. We were very wrong. They crew that came to begin with didn’t complete the job correctly even when questioned about why they weren’t setting the supports according to the drawing Ben had given us. All the encapsulated areas we could see clearly were fine but when we were in the crawl space running new electrical the rest of it looked awful. There were unlevel supports, gaps in encapsulation, they did not touch the main area that needed support even though it was on the drawing and no one would give me an answer as to why. The foreman just told me that with all the other supports in that area would be fine. It still wasn’t level so I’m not sure how he thought that would work out. When we discovered the issues we called AFS to fix it. It took two weeks and multiple phone calls for anyone to get back with me. After a new inspector came (an hour and a half late with no apology) and a no show crew (for which I never got an explanation or an apology), they did finally come and address the issues. There was one area of our home that we were told was inaccessible when the crew was finished (the first crew realized this too but didn’t tell us) and the foreman said he would make a note of it and we would get a refund for that square footage. It has been almost a month and we still haven’t gotten that. We thought we were home free with the foundation work though until yesterday when we were changing out a door and replacing some subfloor and discovered additional foundation issues. If Ben had looked at that area during his inspection he would have seen a problem, so I don’t think he did a full inspection. Even though we called AFS as soon as we bought this house to inspect it and repair any issues, five months later we’re still dealing with it because they missed a glaring problem. Working with AFS has been a nightmare. This is our first experience dealing with a contractor of any kind and after this I hope I never need to again. I’m not sure if this company gets such good reviews because sometimes they get it right or just because they talk a good game and most homeowners don’t check their work but their reputation hasn’t done us any good. Maybe they get it right sometimes but if you’re one of the ones they screw over it’s not worth it. And good luck getting anyone to even call you back. I’m very disappointed in this company.

First, we were railroaded into making an on-the-spot decision to give AFS a deposit for the work, by being told the high price will be even higher if we don't sign up right away. We came to our senses the next day and, within the proper right of rescission period, called to cancel our deal. They claimed it was cancelled, however, they will not send us any type of proof of cancellation via email, and, despite several calls, we cannot seem to talk to the person who can let us know if our money is being refunded.

Jamal,Logan, and Dylan did an outstanding job on our foundation encapsulation project. They were very customer focused and professional! I would recommend this crew to anyone needing a project completed by AFS

Travis S. was very thorough and professional. He took the time to explain what he was doing and why. He gave us tips on what we can do as homeowners to monitor and maintain our crawl space. He addressed our concerns and thoroughly inspected our encapsulated crawl space along with the exterior of our home. We were very impressed with his knowledge and professionalism. AFS should employ more people like Travis. We felt he went above and beyond what his job requires of him.

I recently had foundation repairs by AFS. The crew of Antonio, Rene and Damon were very professional, courteous and efficient. My questions were answered knowledgeably and with patience. Also, they cleaned up everything afterwards. Antonio always called ahead and were on time, which I appreciated.

I've had my crawl space encapsulated since 2016. AFS came out a month ago to service my unit. Said I needed a new unit even though, my old one seemed to be keeping my humidity levels around 55%. Since the new one has been installed; for a pricely sum of $2300.00, my humidity hasn't been below 60% ( has been as high as 72%) and after four consecutive days of trying to get someone from AFS to call me back, they have not. A little concerned that now they got my money, I no longer matter.

Chris explained why we needed the drain and sump pumps i our crawlspace. No scare tactics-he's a calm sales person who has spent time installing, and knows his business. Foreman Tyler and workman Riley were very personable and good communicators. Thanks to them I understood the whole process. They are very upbeat for guys that spend all day digging manually in crawlspaces! It's a lot of work. And April was a big help in scheduling and got us in much earlier than we expected.

AFS crew, James Allison(Foreman), Tyler Perez(Co-Foreman), and Gabriel Dullca(Installer) did an outstanding job installing a water removal system and complete encapsulation in our crawl space the past two days. They removed all items from the work area and hauled off old junk items, fallen insulation, and old visqueen. They worked hard from start to finish, always courteous, cooperative, timely, with great communication…very professional. Highly recommend.

On April 14, 2023 Joseph Maynard, Michael Moseley, and Charles Baldwin came out to place piers along the front side of the house. They arrived on time, and explained what was going to happen. The lead person was very professional, checking with my 93 yr old mom about the landscape asking what she wanted saved--and she definitely had specifics for them. They said they would try to abide by her wishes as best they could. They proceeded with the work of placing the piers, 8 to be exact. They also placed the flowers and garden artwork back where my mom wanted. The landscape actually looked better after they completed the pier placement work, and replaced the flowers!! AFS placed piers last year on the other side of the house and all is well with that installation after a year. Our experience with AFS has been without any complaints, and the work has held up. I would recommend them if asked.

Continue to be pleased with the installation completed by AFS. We have always found the staff to be professional and courteous. During our recent inspection, Kevin M was very thorough and ensured that our questions were answered to our satisfaction.

Logan O'Neil was terrific. He did a very thorough job of inspecting our crawlspace, made a scale drawing of the crawlspace and took pictures of a floor support that needed attention. He also tested the sump pumps and found that one of them was not functioning properly. He provided a detailed explanation of the choices available to us to address the floor support issue and the sump pump. There was no pressure or "scare tactics" about doing either job; the decision was left entirely up to us. We would highly recommend AFS and Logan O'Neil.

Chris Knight Johnson and his crew Timothy Camp & Tyler Price were here to install added support to the floors main beam. They showed up when they said they would and got the job done in the time that was quoted. Chris followed up after they had finished with pictures, and to answer any questions we had. They were all professional, and did an excellent job. We are more than satisfied and would highly recommend them.

We needed cracks in the concrete around our pool fixed and the erosion stopped. Emily was great to deal with during the whole process. She went above and beyond regular customer representatives.
Gavin and Aaron did a good job on the repairs. They are very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. It is a relief to know that we won't have any more problems with it. I recommend all three of them!
